Prepare for the 2027 New Hampshire Legislative Session
The 2027 New Hampshire Legislative Session begins in January, making now the perfect time to highlight the important role out-of-school time (OST) programs play in supporting children, youth, families, communities, and New Hampshire’s workforce.
Across the state, OST programs provide safe spaces for youth, support working families, build workforce readiness skills, strengthen social-emotional well-being, and create opportunities for hands-on learning beyond the school day.
The New Hampshire Afterschool Network (NHAN) is committed to helping elevate the voices of OST professionals, youth, families, and community partners. Through relationship-building, storytelling, data sharing, and statewide collaboration, NHAN works to increase awareness of the impact and value of high-quality out-of-school time programs across New Hampshire.
As we prepare for the upcoming legislative session, we encourage OST leaders, partners, and supporters to stay engaged, share program stories, and help educate decision-makers about the importance of investing in opportunities that keep young people safe, engaged, and supported during out-of-school hours.
Site Visit Guide for Out-of-School Time Programs
Local, state, and federal leaders all play a role in shaping policies and investments that impact children, youth, families, and communities. Inviting policymakers to visit your out-of-school time (OST) program gives them the opportunity to see your work firsthand, connect with youth and staff, and better understand the impact OST programs have across New Hampshire.
The New Hampshire Afterschool Network (NHAN) has developed a Site Visit Guide to help afterschool and summer learning programs successfully plan and host visits with policymakers and community leaders. The guide includes tips and tools for arranging visits, preparing staff and youth, highlighting program impact, and following up after the visit.
