Healthy Out-of-School Time (OST)
Afterschool and summer programs play an important role in supporting the health and well-being of children and youth. Through safe environments, caring relationships, and hands-on activities, programs help young people build habits that support physical, social, and emotional wellness. NHAN supports these efforts by sharing resources and practices that strengthen healthy out-of-school time experiences across New Hampshire.

Research shows that when children are healthy and active, they are better able to focus, learn, and succeed in school. Yet many children do not have consistent access to healthy food and regular physical activity. Afterschool and summer programs help fill this gap by creating opportunities for movement, nutritious snacks, and routines that support lifelong health—helping young people grow up healthy, strong, and ready to learn.
